Steve Poretz

Steve grew up in Northern Virginia and went to undergraduate school at the University of Lynchburg. Following college, he pursued his nursing degree at Marymount University and began a bedside nursing career in the emergency department, intensive care unit, and at a medical practice. Steve eventually pursued a dual master’s degree in healthcare management and business administration (MSHA, MBA) at Marymount University and spent roughly twelve years working in infectious disease clinical research. He was Executive Director at the Clinical Alliance for Research & Education – Infectious Diseases, LLC which has studied roughly eighty percent of all HIV antiretroviral medications that have gone to market since the development of the first medication known as AZT.

Steve currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at Infectious Diseases Physicians, Inc. (IDP) located in Annandale, Virginia. Steve believes the VHO Nexus program and their staff are an essential program that bridges the gap with extremely talented case management for both clinical and psychosocial needs in a diverse population.
